Will you be the first Golf Olympian
Hi Guys,
Forget the majors, forget Tiger Woods and forget the Ryder Cup.
Today was a landmark for golf as an international game with the announcement that golf will become an Olympic sport in 2016 which is just seven years away. This is just tremendous news and means that many nations will have the opportunity to send their star homegrown players to play amongst the worlds elite.
Just think of Tiger Woods standing on the platform accepting his Olympic Medal only to find that the guy on the higher winners podium is from Vanuatu (Yes…that is a country)
But really…….their must be loads of youngsters out their right now aged between 9 and 99 thinking YES!!! my time has come, at last i can really have a go at getting involved.
Darren Clarke has already come out today and said that although it is good for Golf it should really be for amateurs and not pros. Padraig Harrington has said he would love to be involved.
I myself think that any player who has played in a major or earnt more than $100,000 should not be able to compete, but that is just my view.
But one thing for sure, it’s wonderful news for THE Beautiful Game and I hope it inspires lots of people to get out and try the game.
Would also love to hear your comments
All the best
Richard
