While Tiger’s Away, Ernie Will Play
Hi Guys,
So finally the Big Easy wins a tournament Stateside and it is his first in three years at the Honda Classic, actually it is closer to four years.
But this is just what we as golf fans needed to se just before the “Masters”
We needed a big name to step up to the plate and put out a sign that it wont be a walk in the park for Mr Woods.
Els shot a -3 for the final round and in pretty tough scoring conditions deserved his win.
You have to feel for Mark Calcavechia after his bad luck on the 15th but that is golf and he will still get his day again.
The great thing about this tournament was that it was not won in double digit under par figures. It just goes to show that if the course is set up well then distance need not come into play so much.
If you look at Luke Donald who finished just a shot behind Els, he is not the longest hitter and if more tourneys were like this then it would make for interesting viewing.
Getting back to Tiger Woods, it is clear his preparation has been geaed towards the first Major of the season and it will take one hell of a performance to beat him in any tournament he plays in at the moment but we can all hope.
Tiger is a raving certainty to beat the all time record of Jack Nicklaus, I just hope he does it by winning four in a season which might take another couple of years.
Enjoy your golf
Richard
