Mental Golf Lesson - Show How Good You Are

Show how good a golfer you are

Now I am not saying you should spout off about how much lower your handicap is than the guy you are playing with or start telling everyone that you have the latest golf training aidsĀ or driver technology. This latest golf tips article will show you how to do this in a tactical clever way

I want you to be brave and bold in a competitive situation and put yourself in a positive frame of mind by using a method called the “two more”

Here’s an example.

You are playing a par 4 and you duff your tee shot and only manage to get it a hundred yards whilst you playing partner has hit a screamer of a drive and only has a short iron into the green.

Now in reality your next shot is critical, but instead of going for it you play mental golf and go for a bogey.

Now what you have done is made your opponent think that he must hit the green to win. You have had two shots to his one so he must hit the green and take this chance. To him the hole is won, but it’s not yet really won.

If your opponent does not get on he has not yet won the hole.

Even if your opponent does get on, you may hit a good third and still leave yourself a putt for a a par.

Even in this situation you can still use the two more. If you hole your putt you have probably saved the hole. If you put it close your opponent will still need to avoid three putting.

The secret here is keep your opponent thinking they have won the hole when in reality they haven’t

Imagine you have played four and have a tap in for bogey. Your playing partner has played two and has 20 feet to win the hole.

It is still very feasible for them to three putt because in their mind they have won the hole but still must get down in two.

Think about this technique and use it next time you are in this situation on the course against a fellow golfer.

All the best

Richard
