Mental Golf Lesson - Practise without a Golf Ball

Practise without a Golf Ball

So you have now sorted out your driving and are finding the fairways on a regular basis, but what about your iron play.

A lot of us amateurs have pretty bad swings, nothing like the pro swings, it is a fact.

I want to tell you a story about my wife which i hope will give you some incentive to practice your next piece of golf instruction.

When we went on honeymoon some seven years ago my wife had not swung a club before in her life but was interested in giving it a go.

At the resort where we stayed was the residential pro and golf swing trainer who taught her a swing drill which even to this day will work for anyone, I am sure about it.

When you are next on the practice range i want you to think about practising without a ball in the way.

You need to just practise hitting the little rubber tee on the practice mat.

Do this first with your normal swing, “Do you hit at the tee or through the tee”

To get good distance and consistency and to improve your swing you need to hit through the ball and not at the ball.

To create this feeling you need to close your eyes. With your eyes closed you will find that your hands do not lead the club and your swing will become much more flexible and you will feel the weight of the clubhead.

Practise this swing routine for about 15 minutes each day for a week and you will soon see a difference in your game.

Now going back to my wife. She has not played golf at all since then but whenever she comes out to the golf course with me she will always go to the driving range and hit a few balls.

The amazing thing is that her swing is the same every time she goes because the way she learnt the swing and the mental thoughts she uses to actually hit the ball.

I know this may seem hard for you to believe but if she can have a repeatable swing using this method I am sure you can do the same.

Give this one a try
