Mental Golf Lesson - Design your Golf Course

Design your own Golf Course

Dont worry, as part of your mental golf learning I am not asking you to rip up your local course with an excavator.

If you suffer from a particular jinx shot on a particular hole then this little gem will cure all your troubles.

Let me give you an example:

The 9th hole on my local course is a Par 5 of about 520 yards. The tee shot is a straight drive (driving iron for me of about 240 yards, NO PROBLEMS) the second shot is a shot slightly left of a hill (5 iron for me 160 yards, NO PROBLEMS) which always left me with about 120 yards to the green.

I continually kept hitting my third shot to the right of the green into the same bunker which always seemed to lead to a bogey. It got so bad that my playing partners would always say something before my third shot, things like “Richard’s Bunker” “It’s your favourite bunker” “Hey Sandy” “Learn how to play golf “

Now if we move onto the 11th hole it’s a totally different story. It’s a par 4 of about 370 yards with a straight drive (driving iron for me of about 240 yards, NO PROBLEMS) the second shot into the green is about 120 - 130 yards to the green. This one also has a bunker to the right and is actually a narrower green, but for some reason I always seem to hit the green and make par.

One of my golfing buddies said to me “Rich, you always have problems on the 9th, why don’t you play it like you play the 11th”

So I do this now whenever I am playing the 9th hole at my local course and it has worked amazingly well with very few dropped shots and the occasional birdie to boot.

Maybe give this a try when you are next out

Enjoy the walk

Richard
